Building Links
Link building may be one of the most important factors deciding your fate on the search engines. Having said that, link building is not about linking to any website but to sites with weight. For example if a website were to be linked by CNN it would be great. Sat the same time linking to another nondescript site would be almost meaningless. Link building is one of the cheapest and most effective ways to get higher ranking on search engines. It is therefore an important part of Search engine optimization or SEO.
The smartest web masters simply request other websites with similar material and content to link to them in a reciprocal manner. There is a group among SEOs which claims that reciprocal links have a canceling effect. The claim has neither been proven nor dismissed. If you get links from sites that are similar to yours, you get more of a benefit from the links since they are more relevant. If all the sites on the web about red widgets link to your site, then you must be the best authority for red widgets and Google will rank you #1.
A favorite of link builder is to submit their site to web directories. Though this process may seem monotonous and boring, it can yield a rich harvest of back links. One should remember that quality of the websites which link to you must be good. Search engine algorithms are becoming smarter, more intelligent and nuanced and relevance has become important. One can even submit to blog directories to manage better ranking on search engines.
Lastly, there are a few other ways to get links but I dont recommend them. They work but they take a lot (A LOT) of your time. Your time is better spent using other methods. These commands will pull up blogs and websites with the keyword you searched for. It can help you find relevant links on relevant sites. This is a time consuming process since you have to look and review every blog to see if it fits and is still active (Google pulls up everything), which is why I dont recommend this option.
A little while back link farms used to be a favorite with web masters. These link farms would provide thousands of links. But the Search engines became smarter and penalized these websites. In effect, instead of managing a better ranking these websites were relegated and even blacklisted. Obviously, this brute method to fool search engines I no longer in favor.
Link building is critical to the success of a website and cannot be ignored. Search engines love links and a website is ranked by the number and quality of links. Creating l inks organically is always better than using brute force with link farms. If a website is blacklisted it may never see the light of a search page again.
